Domain Setup
Connect your custom domain to your thundr site.
Connecting your custom domain gives your website a professional look with secure HTTPS. Just follow these simple steps:
- Purchase or Choose Your Domain
- Use a registrar (e.g., Namecheap) to buy a domain, or use one you already own.
- Add an A Record in DNS
- Log in to your domain’s DNS settings through the site you used to purchase it (e.g., Namecheap).
- Create an A Record for @ pointing to 162.55.223.194
- (Optional) Add a CNAME Record for www pointing to @.
- This step may sound difficult if you don't have any technical experience. If you need help in any way, please don't hesitate to reach out by email to team@thundr.ca. We generally respond same-day.
- Verify Your Domain in thundr
- In your thundr Admin Panel, navigate to Domain Settings.
- Enter your custom domain (e.g., yourbusiness.com) and click Apply Changes.
- thundr will automatically check your DNS records and provision a free SSL certificate.
- Wait for SSL Certificate
- This is for having "https://" at the beginning of your site URL instead of "http://" and is incredibly important.
- SSL setup usually completes within an hour.
- Your site will go live at your custom domain with HTTPS enabled.
- Troubleshooting Tips
- Allow up to 24 hours for DNS changes to take effect.
- If you recieve "404 page not found" while visiting your custom domain, that means the DNS records have been configured correctly, and you just need to wait for your free SSL certificate to be activated.
- If you recieve "no available server" while visiting your custom domain, then you have configured DNS records correctly, but haven't verified your domain in thundr, see section 3 of this page.
- Use tools like DNS Checker to confirm your A Record.
- If you need help in any way, please don't hesitate to reach out by email to team@thundr.ca. We generally respond same-day.
